| LE
ROBINSON: Ideally
placed directly on the beach at l' Almanarre, the
Robinson has survived the regulatory frenzy that gripped the town of
Hyeres. The restaurant, although very close to water, is in fact placed
outside the maritime domain . So much the better for customers
and for employees who avoided layoffs restaurants neighbours (Blue
Zone, demolished by its managers, and the Surf, demolished by the ``
care `` of the Hyères municipality). If
you want to enjoy the sea whatever time is not to be missed! Do not be
fooled by any aspect side road, the sea side and the interior are very
good. The view on the beach is superb, with the added bonus of
sailboards and kite surfs a few metres (except July / August, where the
zone is protected and reserved for bathers). Two terraces and a
beautifully decorated interior space leave you the choice
depending on the wind and sun. Varied
menu with salads, fish, plats du jour at affordable prices, which
change every day. Wines of Provence of good quality. Prices
are very reasonable, although they suffered a serious boost at the
beginning of 2007 season. Service sometimes a little overloaded, but
the context encourages tolerance and everyone wants to enjoy the sun!. The
house has changed ownership in early July 2006, but the new boss has
played continuity, maintaining and improving the card, while improving
the decoration (protection glass nearby
beach , teak flooring, mist on the terrace very pleasant when
hot, etc. ..). What good improvements! The
address is therefore to recommend. It
is wise to book! tel 04 94 57 67 56. Open almost all year.
Le
Café de la
Plage (on the Ceinturon beach):
Succeeding
to Café Plage with a completely different team, this
restaurant
located on the Ceinturon beach starts again with absolutely
new
decoration and two nice terraces, unfortunately not protected from the
wind, what is a serious limit for such a place. Still the result of an
administrative decision not allowing some kind of buildings, too bad
for the customers who loved to have lunch face with the islands
directly on the beach, but sheltered from the wind.
The menu is varied, with sometimes ambitious dishes. Prices are in
increase in comparison with the precursor, but reasonably, considering
the new administrative conditions of working.
The only problem: the personnel still did not find stability and heads
changed a lot since the opening. New:
the management changed its policy some time in 2007,
undoubtedly
because of difficulties in following too constraining conditions of
contract which killed the neighbour restaurant, the Day. It installed a very nice
terrace when there is not too much wind. but they also
increased their prices again;
Open during
summer and in winter for
saturday and sunday lunch.
Le
DAY (on
the Ceinturon beach):
The
new
dealers did not resist to the too binding specifications set up by the
municipality: closure all winter long, too much raised
price(prize, prices of concession, too much squeezed schedules of
opening. Result closure of the restaurant.
The former dealers had not wanted to restart in these
conditions. They were regrettably right.
In the meantime, here is a restaurant of beach lost for the customers
and a royalty lost for the
municipality!!
New: summer 2008: it seems that a new team took over. We will try again.
L'Endroit
(at the beginning of the Bergerie beach , near the Port St
Pierre) Pleasant
surprise. At noon, a varied card and a magnificent sight on Islands.
The evening, trendy atmosphere and sound
system.
Opened only during the season.
PRADEAU plage,
almost at
the end of Giens peninsula, near
the port of the Tour Fondue
Thanks
to Var matin, grace to whom we discovered this very well hidden address. It
contrehaut of the beach, down under the pine forest, with a magnificent
sight on the Tour Fondue, Porquerolles, the ilôts of the big
and
small Ribaud, and, naturally, on the beach of Pradeau. Opened
only in season. Rather
standard cooking, but prices more than reasonable (big salads
from 7 ?) Nice
service. Private car park reserved to the customers.
It is wise to reserve!! tel 04 94 58 29 06.
Do not miss
the small poster to the right of the road, at the number
1420 of the avenue des Arbanais, which indicates you the road
in ground which leads to the car park of the restaurant.
La
Baie des
Vahinés , (on the beach of the
Salins, east of Hyères) At the end of beaches
just behind Port Pothuau, in les Salins
Plaçed set back from the sea, in a light hollow.
We do not dominate the sea but we have a beautiful panoramic sight on
Port Cros, Porquerolles and the east headland o fhe peninsula of Giens
The place is rather small (limited by the rules of "Littoral law")
Little
smiling reception and service. Varied card, rather expensive
considering little of inventiveness of the chef. The
cooking is correct, but not original.
Le
SOLARIUM ,Snack
bar on the road leading to the small port of la Madrague, in front of
the International Camping:
You walk past without seeing it, you are wrong.
Plaçed from about ten meters of the beach of Madrague, this
small unpretentious restaurant offers a beautiful sight on the Road of
the salt and the beach of Almanarre. In addition, along the
terrace, fans of windsurfing board coming from the International
campsite, which stands on the other side of the road.
The card is varied and at all the prices. If you venture on a fish
(guaranteed very fresh), you will not be disappointed. If you stay in a
salad, you will not be either disappointed. The BAMBOO,
in Carqueiranne,
On the small beach of Pradon, to Carqueiranne, the lucky guys who
succeded in parking their car can try this restaurant of beach. More
feet
in the water than that, not possible!! In the evening, moreover, it is downright feet in the water for
2 or 3 reserved tables.
Nice and unpretentious. Not complicated cooking, but with a varied
card, going from the salads to pizzas and good fishes.
It is wise to reserve. Tel 04 94 58 65 64
La
Brise
Marine, in Carqueiranne,
It is on the beach of Pradon, in front of the Bamboo. The hotel started
this year a restaurant, that starts and that is a little obvious.Tthe
service is nice, but does not come from the school of hotellerie. There
are about ten tables on a small lawn above the water. It is charming.
The cooking is simple, even rustic, but the prices are very reasonable.
Le
Duplex, ou
le Saint Pierre (we
do not know
any more which is the current name), in Pradet, on the beach of the
Garonne.
Three tables are splendidly placed inside above waves. It is all that
we can say, because the house changed 4 or 5 times of manager since
2004. Our last visits were not encouraging.
For those who have the taste of risk, keep us informed!! L'Abri
Cotier à l'Ayguade On
the recommendation of pgvinyl, we tried it. It is more a summer resto,
because the main dining room is simply closed by transparent
baches, to avoid by East wind. The furniture and the decoration are
simple, but the terrace looks directly on to the beach, which becomes
rae in Hyères!! Moreover, the restaurant does not appear as
gastronomic, but as a " LOLO of beach ".
It is indeed that. Atmosphere rather young. The card is very varied and
nice, with Corsican, West Indian dishes, etc. which go out of
the
routine Hyèroise. A good address for the evenings of good
weather
We also advise you in Porquerolles island the restaurant of the Plage d' Argent:
placed on a magnificent terrace overhanging very frequented Silver
Beach (in 10 minutes by foot on the West of the harbour),
this
establishment takes advantage of its exceptional position without too
much excess. The prices are rather high, but the cooking is looked
after and rather creative. The service and the reception could be more
smiling (the boss is
completely
stressed , what sometimes gives place to unpleasant incidents,
even if we understand that the tourists are not always pleasant).
It is absolutely indispensable to reserve, possibly the day before.
Tel 04 94 58 32 48
To
complete my
list, you may find better to forget about Le SALINAS (on
the
Almanarre beach),
the PADDOCK
(on
the Bergerie beach) ,
ASHKEL'ON
PLAGE (on
the Bergerie
beach), Tahiti Plage
(near
the small harbour of la Capte). Click on the names and you will get the
explanations in French.
And,
if you go to take the sun on the beaches of Mourillon, in TOULON,
distrust you of certain restaurants which are not worth the movement.
Among several installed on these beaches of Mourillon, we recommend you
two restaurants opened almost all year long:
- La Plage,
completely at the beginning when you come from Toulon center.
The service is very pleasant and professional. The varied
card
changes regularly and the ratio quality / price is very good,
- The LIDO, just
before arriving at the big public car parks, with its small
private car park.
The
addition is clearly higher than in La Plage, the atmosphere less young , but the
quality is as high as the prices. To
reserve for the events to be celebrated. |
